Man Arrested for Multiple Break and Enters

On July 28th the Saugeen Shores Police Criminal Investigation and Drug Unit (CID) commenced an investigation into a break and enter and theft at the Woodpecker Lounge in Port Elgin. During the investigation officers collected physical evidence that could identify a suspect.

Later on July 28th a male known to police was observed stealing items from Canadian Tire in Port Elgin.  Through an investigation the CID unit linked that suspect to the break and enter at the Woodpecker Lounge.

On July 30th an officer on general patrol observed the suspect riding a bicycle on Bricker St in Port Elgin.  The suspect attempted to conceal his identity and rode south on Bricker St. The officer caught up to the male at Eugenie St and placed him under arrest for the theft from Canadian Tire.

Shortly after the male was arrested, he was identified as being responsible for the break and enter at the Woodpecker Lounge.

Also on July 30th an officer, who was investigating two break and enters at commercial units at Maple Square Mall also identified the male as being responsible.

The male was transported to the police station where he was held for a bail hearing.

A 36 year old Bruce County man has been charged with:

  • Break and enter and commit theft X3
  • Possession of property obtained by crime
  • Possession of a schedule 1 controlled substance  - Fentanyl
  • Mischief Under $5000
  • Theft Under $5000 X4
