Media Release – Break and Enter / Resist Arrest

On March 12^th at approximately 7:55am officers were called by a property owner concerning a break and enter in progress at one of their rental units on Albert Street in Southampton.

Moments later officers arrived on scene and observed obvious signs of entry into the residence.  A male was observed by an officer to be rummaging through items in a bedroom.  Once contacted by police the male ran towards a ground floor window and attempted to break out of the residence.  Another officer intercepted the male as he was exiting the window.  A brief struggle ensued and the male was taken into custody outside of the residence.

A 34 year old Port Elgin man has been charged with:

1. Break and Enter with intent to commit an indictable offence
2. Resisting arrest
3. Fail to comply with a probation order

The male was held for a bail hearing in Walkerton.
