“Operation – Restrain Yourself” Seat Belt Campaign Results

(See original Media release  - July 10th, 2019)

From July 12th to July 26th members of the Saugeen Shores Police were proactively targeting offenders not wearing or properly wearing their seat belts.

During the two week period, in which ‘Restrain Yourself’ ran, officers were given a variety of excuses from motorists justifying their actions.  One motorist told an officer that he cannot wear a seat belt as it “irritates” his razor burn.

Operation Restrain Yourself is the police service’s latest traffic management safety initiative.  The next safety initiative “Operation – Slow Your Roll” will run over the Civic Holiday weekend from August 1st to August 8th. More details to follow.

Officers laid 22 charges to drivers and passengers during “Operation – Restrain Yourself”
