Stolen ATV, Man arrested in Port Elgin

Media Release – Man Arrested in Possession of a Stolen ATV

On July 15th at approximately 7:00 pm an Suzuki ATV was reported stolen from an address on Concession 14 East in Arran-Elderslie.

At 8:15pm, on the same day, an officer observed the un-plated ATV being operated by a male, wearing no helmet, on Goderich Street in Port Elgin.

The officer stopped the ATV in the parking lot behind the CIBC on Goderich Street.  The male was properly identified.  He was found to be a prohibited driver resulting from a previous conviction of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.

The man was placed under arrest for driving while prohibited and possession of property obtained by crime.  He immediately began to resist officers. The male kicked and attempted to trip one of the arresting officers.  He was eventually restrained and transported to the police station.

An 18 year old Hanover man has been charged with:

  1. Operate Conveyance while Prohibited  320.18 CC
  2. Operate Conveyance while Prohibited  320.18 CC
  3. Operate Conveyance while Prohibited  320.18 CC
  4. Assault to Resist Arrest 270(1)(b) CC
  5. Breach of Probation 733.1(1) CC
  6. Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000.  354(1)(a) CC

He was released with a court date.
